Saemaul Undong also known as New Community movement, New Village movement, Saemaul movement… This is a political initiative carried out from 1971 to 1979 under the government of President Park Chung Hee to modernize the rural economy of South Korea. The success of the movement was later adopted by the South Korean government through a rural development model that was applied in several countries in the world.
