Information technology has played a key role in Vietnamese economic growth, a pattern which a Vietnamese IT firm hopes to repeat in Laos. FPT Information Systems Corporation of Vietnam opened its representative office in Vientiane on Wednesday, aiming to provide IT solutions for local businesses. Business Development Manager, Mr. Dao Hong Giang, who is heading up the corporation’s representative office in Vientiane, said the opening of the service base is in response to market conditions. The corporation employs more than 2,000 staff providing IT systems to key sectors in Vietnam including the government, banks, public finance, telecommunications, national security and defense, and education. FPT Information is working with banks and telecom providers in Laos such as the Public Bank Lao, BCEL, Lao Viet Bank and Millicom Lao by providing core banking and billing solutions.
