Luang Namtha province and the Vietnamese government have cooperated on developing infrastructure in the northern Lao province such as schools, irrigation facilities and gravity-fed-water systems. The co-operation will require an investment of over 13 billion kip (USD 1.54 million). These cooperation projects include the construction of Politics and Public Administration School at a cost of US$ 500.000, the gravity-fed-water facilities at Nam Ngan village (USD 1million). Standing Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, and Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Sinh Hung, visited Luang Namtha province on Tuesday. In the present, the economy of Luang Namtha province grew by 7.85% last year and the per capita income of the province was 4.4 million kip (USD 521). The market-oriented production in the province is outstanding, especially rubber tree plantation on over 26.660 ha.
