The Vietnam-Laos Business Association of Cooperation and Investment (BACI) held its first congress, for the 2010-2013, in Vientiane in Laos on January 10. During the congress, businesses discussed their programme of action with a focus on developing high-quality human resources, increasing the number of its members and building information and legal capacity centre and a club for businesses. The congress is considered an essential step to help businesses share information, study the law in Vietnam and Laos, assist each other with advertising to attract more investment and encourage cooperation between the two countries. As of now, Vietnamese businesses have invested in 186 projects in Laos with a total capital of over US$ 2 billion, making Vietnam the biggest investor in Laos.
